Created by Dan Nevsky @cocktailman for his 2020 guest shift at El Copita’s Bar in Saint Petersburg, Russia (#27 in 2020’s Top 50 Bars), this is a modern and full bodied twist on the traditional Basque drink usually consisting of equal parts red wine & Coca-Cola.

INGREDIENTS

30ml / 1oz 9diDANTEe INFERNO
30ml / 1oz Woodford Reserve Bourbon
30ml / 1oz Coca-Cola & Salted Peanut Cordial [watch video below]

HOW DO I MAKE IT?

1 - Make the Coca-Cola and Salted Peanut Cordial by following the steps in the video below. It is not complicated, but it does take some time and will require some advanced preparation

2 - Pour all ingredients into a mixing glass filled with ice and stir for 20-30 seconds

3 - Strain into an Old Fashioned glass over ice

Salted COCA COLA Peanut Cordial Recipe

INGREDIENTS
1L Coca-Cola
200g Unsalted Peanuts
2 drops Orange Blossom Water or Neroli Oil

STEP 1 - Pour the Peanuts and the Coca-Cola into a pot and leave to soak for 12 hours

STEP 2 - Heat the pot to 90 degrees Celcius and simmer until you reduce the liquid to 50% of the original volume

STEP 3 - Filter out the nuts and add 2 drops of Orange Blossom Water to balance out the saltiness. Refrigerate and its ready for mixing into your Kalimotxo.
